Indian squid ( Loligo duvauceli) is one of the most distributed and abundantly caught squid in coastal India.

This squid can be identified by its long tubular middle section and dome shaped posterior end . It has ten arms with two long tentacles.

This squid release dark blue ink as an escape and defense mechanism . The squid is in high demand and caught in large numbers by trawler nets .
