Smooth butterfly ray ( Gymnura micrura ) is a species of cartilaginous fish . This ray is diamond shaped . This ray can be identified by its greenish brown colour on dorsal side and whitish colour on ventral side .
And its tail has 3-4 transverse bands if dark and light colours.

This ray reaches maximum size of 100-120 cms from tip to tip ( horizontal ) .
It is threatened by by-catch and is caught all over year in great numbers .
Its IUCN status is data deficient ,owing to the little studies that have been conducted on the species
Its local name is Amber Teku ( అంబర్ టేకు )
