Here are a couple of pictures of the lucky few Pangolins rescued from a nearby residence in Visakhapatnam
- Pangolins are anteaters
- Their body is covered with scales
- They are usually solitary
- These nocturnal species are toothless
but highly adapted to their diet of ants and termites, with extremely
long and sticky tongues that are able to reach inside insect nests
Unfortunately
they are the worlds most trafficked mammals both for scales and their meat.If they disappear there is nothing like them left on earth.
Scales are believed to be helpful for a range of maladies, but there’s no scientific support for these claims.China is the biggest consumer of pangolin scales
